York Gay Pride aims to promote equality, diversity, and advances in education, in order to eliminate discrimination against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. We raise awareness of issues through our events, including our main summer Pride event, as well as providing support to other LGBT Charities and voluntary organisations.
Our main summer event, York ‘Northern’ Pride 2012, was the biggest York Pride ever! We held our first ever pride parade through the city. With a phenomenal turn out of over 500 people for the parade and over 2000 at the pride afternoon event! The York Pride Parade is set to become a permanent feature of future York summer Pride events. We are also delighted to announce that York Pride 2013 will be be held on 1st June 2013. More details coming soon!
We also run OUTrageous, York’s new LGBT Friday club night, every friday from 11:00pm at Vanity nightclub, and a popular weekly pub quiz at The Pink Pony, every Tuesday night from 8.30pm, both events raising much needed funds to support York Pride.
Have a look around this site for details of the events we organise, the causes we support and, coming soon, details of what lies ahead for York Pride 2013.
