Accessibility at York Pride
At York Pride, we aim to be as accessible as possible, ensuring everyone can enjoy the festival regardless of their access needs.
We’re proud to continue working in partnership with York Disability Rights Forum, helping us improve accessibility and make sure disabled voices are represented in every stage of our planning.
If you have any questions or specific requirements ahead of the event, please contact us at info@yorkpride.org.uk.
Accessibility Statement
A core aim of York Pride is to create an event that is as accessible as possible for everyone. Accessibility accounts for over one-fifth of our annual spend, and we’re always striving to improve our facilities and support.
We know there’s always more to do — and with each year, we continue to learn, adapt, and invest in making Pride more inclusive for all.

Parade Accessibility
Our Pride Parade is one of the longest in the UK at 2.4 miles, taking around 60–90 minutes to complete. The route is mostly flat, though some cobbled streets are unavoidable.
We offer wheelchair-accessible spaces on parade buses. To reserve a space, please contact our Parade Team in advance at parade@yorkpride.org.uk.
Festival Site Accessibility
The festival takes place on the Knavesmire, a 23-acre grass field (approximately 200m x 150m). The ground can be uneven, and although we request the grass to be cut prior to the event, this is outside our direct control.
Marshals, wearing yellow high-visibility vests, will be available throughout the site to assist with questions, guidance, and accessibility support.
Over 500 metres of trackway will be installed, providing improved access to key areas such as the viewing platform, accessible toilets, and Pride HQ.

Getting Here
Public Transport: There are regular bus services stopping near the Knavesmire site for easy access.
Accessible Parking: Blue Badge parking will be available on the day. No pre-booking is required — simply arrive with your Blue Badge and our team will direct you.
Toilets and Changing Facilities
Two fully accessible RevoLOO units will be on-site, each fitted with a toilet with retractable grab rails, an electric hoist, and an adjustable-height changing table. A trained attendant will be on hand to maintain cleanliness and provide assistance throughout the day.
Additional accessible toilets will be available in both main toilet blocks across the site.

Viewing Platform and Screens
A raised viewing platform will be available for wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility, offering a clear view of the Main Stage.
Two large screens will display live camera feeds of the performances to improve visibility and enjoyment for all attendees.
Quiet Hour and Sensory Considerations
To support visitors who prefer a calmer atmosphere, there will be a Quiet Hour from 11:00am to 12:00pm, before the parade arrives. During this time, loud music and crowd activity will be reduced.
After 12:00pm, the site will become busier as the parade arrives and the main stage entertainment begins.
Please note that the Main Stage and Cabaret Stage will feature flashing lights, spark machines, and confetti cannons (but no strobe lighting). Those sensitive to sound may wish to bring ear protection; foam ear plugs will be available from Pride HQ.

Accessibility for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Attendees
Our Pride Guide will be available as a digital interactive PDF, designed for screen readers and accessible devices.
British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will be present on the Main Stage throughout the day for all performances, speeches, and announcements.
Assistance Dogs
Service animals are warmly welcomed at York Pride. Please ensure they remain on a lead at all times and have access to food and water.
Free water will be available from First Aid and Pride HQ for assistance dogs and emergencies.

Medical Facilities
There will be two large First Aid stations on-site, staffed by trained medics and including an on-site doctor. An ambulance will be present for emergencies.
Free drinking water will also be available from First Aid points and Pride HQ for emergencies and for service dogs.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Accessibility is at the heart of York Pride’s values, and we’re committed to improving every year. For future events, we’re exploring:
- Wheelchair and mobility aid hire on-site
- Audio descriptions and enhanced visual supports for performances
- Hearing loops and live captioning at key stages
- Additional rest areas across the site
These initiatives remain dependent on available funding and logistics, but reflect our long-term goal of making York Pride as accessible as possible.

Need Support?
If you require assistance during the event, our friendly Marshals will be available across the site in yellow vests.

We look forward to welcoming you to York Pride 2026, and to ensuring an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable experience for all.
