York LGBT History Month

Each February, we come together as a community to celebrate the rich and diverse history of LGBT+ people — in York, across the UK, and around the world.

York LGBT+ History Month is a time to reflect on the struggles and achievements of the past, to honour the contributions of LGBT+ individuals, and to continue advocating for equality, inclusion, and visibility in every part of life.

The 2026 programme is a true community collaboration, shaped and delivered by York LGBT Forum, York Pride, Generate, The Portal Bookshop, York RI Templars, and York St John University. Together, we’re proud to present an inspiring mix of events, exhibitions, talks, and creative workshops that educate, empower, and celebrate our shared history.

Everyone is welcome — LGBT+ people, allies, families, and friends. Whether you join us to learn something new, share your story, or simply celebrate the community we’ve built, your presence helps keep the spirit of Pride alive all year round.

Thank you for being part of York LGBT+ History Month, and we hope you enjoy the programme.

All events listed in the York LGBT+ History Month programme are organised independently by participating organisations. For specific details about accessibility, booking, or schedule changes, please contact the event organisers directly.

The York LGBT+ History Month partnership team does not manage or deliver individual events. Contact information for each participating organisation is provided in the listings.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting York’s celebration of LGBT+ history, culture, and community.
